The Opportunity
The Immunity and Pathogenesis Division within the College of Medicine at the University of Central Florida invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Scholar position in the area of innate immunity and signal transduction, allergy and asthma. This position reports directly to the Principal Investigator in the relevant laboratory and will be responsible for carrying out research related to ongoing projects, both those currently funded and those for which funding is being sought. Although primarily working independently, the candidate will also be responsible for working with and supervising other undergraduate and/or graduate students to accomplish the various studies.
The candidate will be expected to perform various in vitro and in vivo experiments related to assessing the responses to various allergens. Techniques include but are not limited to: mouse asthma models, FlexiVent analysis, flow cytometry, tissue culture, SDS/PAGE and Western Blot, ELISA, multiplex analysis, binding assays, immunohistochemistry.
In addition, the candidate will be expected to continue and complete ongoing projects, expand upon and/or establish new areas of research and write up and submit research findings. This position is guaranteed for 2 years but can be extended. The candidate is also expected to apply for independent funding.
Minimum qualifications
Doctorate from an accredited institution in any of the relevant life science disciplines: Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Pathology
Excellent communication skills in English
Proven ability to work independently within a research lab
Preferred qualifications
Excellent scientific writing skills
Ability to develop independent research areas
