DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will assist the Forest Maintenance Supervisor with maintenance, repair, forest fire, and management activities of the assigned Cooks Run Maintenace Division. You will perform manual labor, operate basic equipment, tools, and/or vehicles. Additionally, you will maintain equipment and tools, work with other staff in the performance of their duties. As needed assistance may require temporary assignment to other Sproul State Forest District Maintenance Divisions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position without benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Wednesday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime: Voluntary and Mandatory for emergencies (wildland fire and search response)
  • Tavel: worksite using provided vehicle.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.


Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
