RT&T, a joint venture of InDyne, Inc. and Amentum Services, Inc. is the prime contractor to support the Atlantic Range Technical Support Services (ARTSS) for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) headquartered in Patuxent River, MD, and with locations in Maryland, Virginia, and California.

ARTSS supports Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR) and Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) in research and development, engineering, maintenance, operation, support of facilities, systems, and equipment in order to meet the engineering development and operational testing and fleet training missions for some of the world's premier systems. Our work with the U.S. Navy keeps the warfighter safe by testing systems before they are used in combat, and we are hiring personnel to support this important mission.

Background Information:

This full-time position supports the Electronic Warfare (EW) Team within the Aircraft Signature & Avionics Measurement (ASAM) Branch at the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, Maryland. The EW team provides an electromagnetic threat environment to support research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) programs, national systems testing, and large scale exercises. This position will work in a fast-paced, rewarding technical environment at the forefront of naval test and evaluation (T&E).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and perform T&E on EW systems, equipment, and/or components. This will require the individual to manage/organize an EW support facility and document technical data and information (drawings, parts lists, etc.) for team use.
  • Research and acquire radio frequency (RF) equipment, test components, develop waveforms, and operate HF, UHF, and VHF communications systems to transmit electromagnetic signatures for RDT&E events
  • Responsible for the signal generation and validation of digitally modulated communication waveforms (examples: QAM, FSK, MSK, CDMA) to emulate modern datalinks
  • Operate EW simulation systems to include ATR's Automated Communications Threat System (ACTS), Battlefield Communications Simulation System (BCSS), FURY, Mobile Cellular Phone Networks, and other EW emitter systems.
  • Develops or updates operating procedures, maintenance, and calibration protocols, as well as on the job training of assigned systems in accordance with contract requirements and direction of government leadership.

Educational, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

  • BS Degree in an electronics or computer engineering discipline from a school of engineering accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience performing the stated or similar function
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience with electronics engineering functions as related to development, test, or evaluation of instrumentation systems. Possess an academic and work experience background in such areas as preparation of technical and operational test plans, execution of sophisticated tests, certification of systems, logistic support planning, technical data review, and analytical interpretation of test results.
  • Candidate is required to have knowledge of electronics and RF advanced signal generators, high power amplifiers (solid-state and TWTs), and electronic test equipment (e.g. RF spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power meters, voltmeters, etc.)
  • Candidate should exhibit extensive digital & analog troubleshooting skills, ability to perform component and/or system level calibrations, RF direct and/or open-air signal verification skills, and basic knowledge of antenna pedestal control devices.
  • RF knowledge of cables & waveguide, various RF connectors, antennas, and coupler/splitters is required
  • Must be able to understand and interpret electrical engineering RF designs, drawings, specifications, and concepts
  • Ability to create technical diagrams, parts lists, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) documents along with system troubleshooting references
  • Must understand basic MS Windows OS and Office applications as well as basic networking setup (i.e. IP addresses)
  • Applicant must be a self-starter, flexible, and team-oriented
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and successfully pass drug screening

Security Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Department of Defense (DoD) issued Secret Clearance

Work Conditions:

  • Conditions will vary. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and reaching.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs unassisted
  • Vision abilities needed to perform this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Willing to travel CONUS (up to 15%) and possibly OCONUS (up to 5%)
  • Willing to travel supporting land-based and maritime EW operations including on ships/boats
