Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Head of Quality Assurance to join our Quality Department based in Mobile, AL

Responsible for directly managing a team of Quality Managers with varying scope to demonstrate and react towards the compliance of FAL-USA Site operations to Regulatory requirements with the Aviation Authorities and to our Airline Customers. The Head of Quality Assurance Department is responsible to secure management of the core Airbus QMS within the FAL-USA securing all processes and qualification of personnel to meet the requirements.They will also be actively working to secure the network back to Europe to promote and imbed common ways of working across the Airbus FAL's and harmonization of the Quality Assurance Teams as close as possible.

Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your challenges:

* Secure the publishing and the maintaining of the FAL-USA Management System Manual covering all FAL-USA activities incl. back-office and USA Operations which support the Production Organization Approval (POA) to be granted by EASA.

* Ensure the management of the approval audit-plan agreed with Authorities and POA-holder to achieve the extension of the POA to FAL-USA.

* Ensure the Internal Audit Plan is implemented and reviewed in line with Airbus Central Quality targets and requirements .

* Maintain a Compliance review providing visibility to all Management and Functions responsible for the continued surveillance of the POA Footprint.

* Actively manage the risk to the Production Approvals for the site; specifically on the A320 Final Assembly Line.

* Implement and maintain the staff qualification-process and -system including the demands and requirements of the Production System.

* Manage Logistics and Transport Quality roles as delegated by Central Functions.

* Ensure the efficiency of the survey- and audit-system (QM-System, Process-, Product) and the related corrective action management.

* Ensure and maintain the efficiency of KPI in line with Program and FAL-internal requirements.

* Ensure harmonization with Central Quality and Single Aisle Back-Office Quality Departments for KPI Reporting and Improvement Projects

* Through direct reports manage and lead a team, including its development, to ensure execution of the above accountabilities and responsibilities.

* Integrate flexibility into the team and ensure that the team maintains its output and standards when fluctuations occur.

* Work across the FAL's to share and engage in best practice ways of working.

* Work within the Single Aisle Quality Departments to ensure the ways of working and managing issues is secured.

* Working to align and make the process of the QMS applicable to the site, where this is possible.

* Deploy and maintain the working documents which allow the site to operate as a multi-program site.

* Represent Airbus Quality in front of the Authorities from a Program level and ensure updates on Quality issues are provided.

* Drive improvements, via focused data and feedback, through the business to improve Customer Satisfaction.

Your boarding pass:

Education:

* Preferred: Degree in Aeronautical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience in Production (Aerospace or other) Quality Departments.

Experience:

* Minimum 5 years' experience in Aerospace and/or equivalent environment.

* Quality experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

* Proven Leader of effective teams which generate results.

* Strong and effective Practical Problem Solving skills (demonstrable).

* Understanding of the Kaizen approach to Manufacturing.

* Knowledge about non-conformance management and Root Cause Analysis methods within Airbus.

* Good knowledge and understanding of the Airbus Quality Management System and its process.

* Knowledge of the Production process and build cycle.

* Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing

* Familiar with the American aviation market, its Airlines and Airline Representatives

* Ability to quickly understand technical documents.
