The Walmart Category Advisor is responsible for developing and executing category growth strategies that balance the needs of Central Garden & Pet and the Customer(s). They will set direction on category performance drivers (AMPS) from an omni approach. They will ensure growth ideas are developed with shoppers at the center and evolve along with the needs of the shopper. Candidates must be curious, passionate, energetic, and self-motivated with the ability to support multiple branded companion animal lines for strategic growth.

Reporting to the Vice President of Pet Consumer Insights & Category Management, this position will be in-office-based in Bentonville, AR

In-office working environment, Bentonville, AR; frequent use of phone and PC; required overnight business travel up to 20% of the time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Expert on Category health (WHAT) and on shoppers (WHO) and shopper behavior (WHY); Responsible for developing 1) a vision for category growth. 2) A clear plan & path to get there. 3) Actionable and measurable execution that delivers joint growth.
  • Thought leader who creates and articulates Category business opportunities based on evolving shopper behaviors.
  • Brings omni-channel shopper concepts to life; ensures that products are available at every touch point in the shopper journey.
  • Ability to proactively influence Category/Customer strategy and identify opportunities for growth both with the Customer and within Central Garden & Pet.
  • Effectively lead and influence Customer(s) category reviews, recommends and manages appropriate data, closes knowledge gaps and aligns team to appropriate category priorities.
  • Ability to anticipate future Category/market needs and drives solutions.
  • Engage people as business owners: Coaches, develops, empowers team members as appropriate.
  • Trains, educates and develops "Category Mindset" as competitive advantage for Central Garden & Pet with customers.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven experience leading customer engagements in both space and assortment, pricing strategy, trade promotion strategy, and omnichannel solutions, building indispensable, collaborative partnerships with retail customers.
  • Strong leadership skills - ability to develop a vision and influence at all levels; understands customer operations and what's required to win at retail

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Management, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or related field, MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive sales, category management, trade marketing, analytics, consumer or shopper insights experience
