As the Purchasing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our supply chain management, ensuring the procurement of materials and services necessary for our forging operations. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of purchasing, from vendor selection and negotiation to inventory management and strategic planning. Our ideal will possess exceptional analytical skills, a strong understanding of MRP systems, and a proven track record of effective leadership in a purchasing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance. Identify and qualify new suppliers; while maintaining strong relationships with existing ones.
  • Vendor Management: Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and service agreements. Monitor vendor performance and address any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock while minimizing carrying costs and obsolescence. Utilize MRP system data and analysis to forecast demand and plan inventory replenishment.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of purchasing professionals, providing guidance, training, and support tp achieve departmental goals and objectives. Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
  • Data Analysis: Collect, trend, and analyze purchasing data to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and efficiency gains. Generate reports and present findings to senior management for strategic decision-making.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards. Proactively mitigate supply chain risks and disruptions through effective contingency planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in purchasing, preferably within the forging industry or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, trends, and market dynamics.
  • Proficiency in using MRP (material Requirements Planning) systems and other procurement software.
  • Excellent negotiations, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities with the capability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
