Overview / Job Summary:
The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced educator that can develop faculty to ensure instructional quality and ensure the academic programs are meeting the needs of area employers. The Assistant Dean of Building Trades provides management and leadership for all current and future programs in Building Trades. Under the administrative supervision of the Dean of Applied Technologies, the Assistant Dean will oversee the routine operations and delivery of instruction.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
 
  • Manages programs and courses designed to meet the training and transfer needs of the community in coordination with the Dean, Applied Technologies.
  • Develops articulation agreements and concurrent credit partnerships with regional institutions.
  • Assists in recruiting faculty, staff, and student body to reflect diversity of community in which programs are based.
  • Responsible for administration of college level Building Trades programs and non-credit offerings, including but not limited to; development and oversight of course schedules, creating department goals, facilitating academic meetings, faculty engagement, leadership and management of direct reports, and participation in assigned meetings and task forces.
  • Monitors program budgets, expenditures, lab space, and in coordination with the Academic Coordinator, maintains an inventory of necessary supplies, equipment and materials, and assures their security and proper uses.
  • This position is a flex position that requires some evening coverage.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, from a regionally accredited college or university required. Master’s, preferred.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Minimum three years of administrator/leadership experience in education, required.
  • Teaching experience and/or student services in adult education preferred.
  • Knowledge of career technical educational theory and evaluation preferred.
Additional Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including outstanding speaking skills – must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in an environment that can be extremely busy and frequently subject to change.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to accurately and quickly process, enter and audit data.
