Position Announcement

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships, this position administers the comprehensive and quality financial aid counseling services to UT student athletes and their parents, and works closely with administrators in the Athletic department to ensure NCAA, federal, and institutional financial aid and scholarship policies are followed and administered correctly as a Division I athletic program. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with NCAA, Western Athletic Conference (WAC), and Department of Education financial aid regulations.
  • Work with others to evaluate, interpret and/or implement financial aid and NCAA policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Provide primary, in-person customer service to student-athletes and parents by assisting and guiding them through the various required processes for aid eligibility.
  • Award federal, institutional, and athletic financial aid and scholarships for all athletic teams.
  • Coordinate with representatives from other offices across campus and assist students and parents with their understanding of the student's account.
  • Maintain all student-athletic scholarship accounts.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and work extra hours during certain times of the academic year to facilitate appropriate and timely processing of student-athlete financial aid and scholarships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree and at least two years of progressively responsible experience in higher education required.
  • Knowledge of financial aid and/or NCAA athletic compliance preferred.
  • Experience in dealing with outside organizations similar in scope to the Department of Education and the NCAA, and interpreting complex regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to analyze detailed financial information, communicate clearly under stress and short deadlines, and provide excellent customer service under difficult situations.
  • Ability to handle stressful timelines and complete workload on time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel, required; experience and/or proficiency with Banner (University's operating system) preferred.
  • Understanding of audit principles preferred.
  • Ability to work both on one's own and in a team environment.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $48,000-$52,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of July 2024.
