The Administrative Officer, Principal & Major Gifts (P&MG) will serve as the primary departmental liaison to multiple hospital departments and divisions and provides assistance to Gift Officers with their fundraising activities. This role will collaborate closely with and convene Trust colleagues and Chiefs, Physicians, Hospital Administration, and Researchers to ensure faculty requests are expedited in a timely manner. The Administrative Officer, P&MG is instrumental in stewarding and nurturing relationships with the hospital and facilitating the highest level of service, to ensure donor activity is uninterrupted. This position will build a deep knowledge of BCH departments, and requires excellent customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills, problem-solving abilities and a strong team mentality.

This Administrative Officer, P&MG will:

  • Build and nurture effective working relationships with senior management, department chiefs, clinicians and researchers to identify funding needs as appropriate, while collaborating with internal Trust colleagues in Communications, Finance, Gift Services and Gift Officers.
  • Serve as primary staff liaison to hospital departments/programs, and develop meeting schedules, anticipating and coordinating solicitations and visits for each department staffed, in consultation with the AVPs, Principal and Major Gifts.
  • Provide daily oversight of all internal requests related to P&MG donors; Innovate systems and infrastructure that provide urgent assistance and service to faculty and colleagues who need support as it relates to donor activities and solicitations.
  • Develop an understanding of the breadth of research, clinical, teaching and community service programs of Children's Hospital and its departments and serves as a resource to Trust colleagues.
  • Prepare letters, proposals, reports, acknowledgements, case materials, briefings and donor correspondence while planning specific communication for each donor from physician scientists and/or leaders in the institution.
  • May carry a small portfolio of donors for stewardship purposes.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • BA degree and 4 years progressive experience in development. Experience working in annual or major gifts required or the equivalent.
  • Positioning, writing, and analytical skills to present complex scientific, clinical, research and medical issues that require philanthropic support for the many and various departments/divisions in Boston Children's Hospital.
  • Ability to multi-tasks and oversee efforts from start to finish
  • Strong strategy development and execution abilities to collaborate with peers and persuade and negotiate with external organizations and individual prospects around cases for support, gift agreements and relationships with the Trust and the Hospital.
  • Strong presentation and communications skills.
  • Consistent attention to detail, high level of productivity, and solution-orientation to be responsive to both staff and donor issues.
