Position Summary
The Finance/Budget Analyst 2 will perform accounting duties in supports of the Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI), the UNC Center for Natural Hazards Resilience and the Center for Galapagos Studies.

This position will:
- Perform pre-award and post-award duties as well as the financial management of other fund types.
- Serve as the back-up to the Business Officer.
- Provide oversight and support in the execution of the budget and expenses to a specific portfolio consisting of Principal Investigators and/or Center Directors.
- Be responsible for the approval of accounts payable transactions in compliance with university and sponsor guidelines.
- Be responsible for training new employees, RENCI staff when necessary, and work study students.
-Supervision of two-three employees including performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Mid-career with Masters and 1-2 yrs experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 yrs experience
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Knowledge and experience working with pre- and post-award financial management from a variety of sponsors.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* UNC-CH experience
* Ability to organize and analyze data with attention to detail under pressured deadlines.
* Extensive experience with calculating payroll and forecasting.
* Thorough understanding of how to interpret regulations and guidelines from a wide variety of funding agencies and use the funding mechanism required by those agencies.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
* Extensive experience creating spreadsheets and developing formulas in Excel.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong customer service skills.
* Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
* Ability to perform work with a high degree of autonomy, accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness
