Responsibilities

Duties: The Battery Pack Systems Engineer at CNH Industrial America LLC in Livonia, MI will contribute to generating system's engineering tools and processes and will support the Gen2 battery pack design to be used across multiple programs. The duties include developing and specifying battery systems for Best-in-Class products in the Agricultural and Construction Industries. Collaborating with a team of engineers covering the core competencies of electrical system architecture and the interfaces required for full integration to vehicle systems. Developing all battery pack system requirements from concept initiation through production launch and field support. Developing system architectures and mechanization definition for Energy Storage Systems (ESS) in support of vehicle traction, charging, interfaces and accessories. Providing direction for ESS component selection, including cells and modules. Conducting trade-off analysis for system performance, both electrically and thermally. Providing direction for data collection in support of the requirements definition process. Coordinating the creation and use of modeling strategies and analysis tools. Collaborating with the pack design manager and propulsion system team to provide performance input for trade studies. Creating and managing battery sub-system technical specifications and ensure the battery performance and safety meets vehicle technical specifications. Directing the development of ESS System DFMEA's and coordinate supplier component Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis' (DFMEA). Creating Analysis, Development and Validation (ADV) plans that support fast to market and first-time quality. Interfacing with Purchasing and Suppliers during the sourcing and development process. Collaborating with lead engineers, cross functional team members, and engineering service teams in vehicle, modeling and simulation, software, and functional safety. Communicating development progress to leadership, identify project risks, and propose mitigation strategies. Preparing and participating in formal and informal design/peer review activities. Interfacing with teams at various global locations and stay abreast of the latest technologies and requirements for energy storage systems and components. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week. Salary: $99,000-$145,200/year.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field, plus 2 years of experience as a Design Release Engineer, Systems Engineer, or related occupation. The 2 years of experience must include 2 years of experience with each of the following: 1) Vehicle Manufacturing; 2) Modeling strategies in SIMULINK; 3) vehicle test data analysis in MATLAB; 4) Conducting Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis and Design Verification Plan and Report; 5) cross-functional collaboration with other departments; and 6) participating in the design review process.
