Duties and responsibilities:
- Creating expression constructs for protein production; large-scale plasmid preparation.
- Maintaining mammalian cell lines.
- Testing expression constructs in mammalian cells (HEK293T, CHO cells, etc.).
- Scaling up the expression in mammalian cells to produce protein in milligram quantities
- Purifying protein by various chromatographic techniques following established protocols.
- Performing SDS-PAGE and western blots to monitor proteins at various stages of protein expression and purification.
- Maintaining inventory of cell culture supplies as well as contributing to general maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and supplies.
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
- Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in the biological sciences.
- Experience in cell culture or protein expression and purification is a plus.
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team environment are necessary
