Quality Reliability Engineer - Optical Solutions

In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules to support our customer's next generation networks. We are looking for a Reliability Engineer to join our team. This person will be responsible for all the reliability related activities of the research and development of the optical products for telecom and datacom industries, especially of the optical cross-connect switches to be developed and manufactured in Fremont, CA.

This person will work with multi-disciplinary teams, including sales and marketing, product line managers, electrical, mechanical, and optical R&D teams, and work with colleagues of different geographic sites to ensure the quality reliability of the developed fiber optical products.


What You Will Do


Quality

  • Drive supplier/contract manufacturer to continuous quality improvements in effective Quality Systems metrics
  • Drive AQL standardization, Yield trends/holdouts, Stop Ship issues, QCFC charts
  • Coordinate all quality-related activity at supplier/contract manufacturer site to solve daily quality issues of components with 8D approach in NPI & MP stage
  • take quick containment action to avoid line-down situations and drive practical CAPA to prevent repeat issues
  • Conduct supplier/contract manufacturer quality control audits on a regular basis to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with company and manufacturing production standards
  • Maintain a supplier database and include performance evaluations and quality control audits in the database for in-house access by company and manufacturing management personnel


Reliability

Cooperate with the development team to monitor reliability validation plan of new products according to products characteristics, customer's requirements as well as conforming to industry standards.

  • Write Reliability reports as per Telcordia and other standards

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in any: quality engineering, material science, reliability engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, etc.
  • Experience with quality and reliability tools, technologies, and methods, such as FMEA, Six sigma, FRACAS and/or 8D
  • Experience in a Quality focused role
  • Reliability related work experience
  • Experience with reliability engineering principles and reliability test procedures
  • Experience with statistical process control
  • Experience with statistical tools, such as the JMP software
  • Experience with reliability testing standards and methods, such as Telcordia standards
  • Experience with common reliability phenomena, failure mechanism, and common failure analysis methods

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 10+ years of working experience in a design, manufacturing and supplier chain quality environment (in optical communications industry is highly preferred)
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills, including knowledge of problem-solving methodologies and tools
  • Experience with ISO quality systems.
  • Strong accountability and sense of urgency. Willingness to take challenges and enthusiasm under pressure
  • Familiar with 8D, 5 Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and PPAP) and problem solving
  • Good understanding of Optical Components (Laser, Fiber Array, COSA etc.,) volume production methods
  • Excellent understanding With flexible PCB(FPC) or PCB knowledge of manufacturing and production process
  • Experience with Flip-Chip is a strong addition
  • Excellent in-house and external communication and liaison skills
  • Good inter departmental coordination ability along with Good report making and presentation skills
  • Excellent Quality skills and Basic Reliability Engineering skills

For this role, we anticipate $150,000-$200,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
