Summary: The Senior Cost Accountant supports the financial management of Trident's fishing and processing operations. This position, based in Trident Seafoods' Support Center in Seattle, WA, typically supports several seafood processing plants and/or several of our vessels with clear, timely, and actionable financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares operations labor and overhead spending budgets and supports allocation of standard costs across product forms
  • Drives the accounting month-end process by preparing accrual journal entries, raw material cost allocations, reclassifying operating expenses and distributing manufacturing variances by product and categories.
  • Generates and distributes weekly/monthly/quarterly spend, inventory, and production reports as needed.
  • Partners with the operational leadership and engineering department to support capital budgeting for assigned operations. This includes project approval write-ups, spend reporting, project tracking, forecasts, and fixed asset closeouts
  • Track, validates, and assists in planning of continuous improvement and cost savings projects
  • Monitorand analyzes trends in labor and overhead spending, production volume and mix, and material usage. Works with management team to identify and understand variances
  • Completesand presents financial analysis in support of operational decisions, and reports results of assigned locations
  • Monitors the preparation and maintenance of item bills of material and cost routings. Prepares and loads activity rates, and any additive costs to our ERP system (SAPH4)
  • Providesupport with internal and external audit requests as well as compliance reporting

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years finance/accounting experience required
  • Manufacturing or operations fiance/accounting experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance from four-year college or university
  • Strong Financial Analysis skills and knowledge of Cost Accounting principles - Experience with an integrated ERP system
  • Ability to travel to Alaska up to 10% of the time for 1 to 2 weeks at a time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred
  • Food industry experience
  • Experience with SAP Controlling (CO), MM, and SCM functionality

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for long periods and often sit at a desk in an office enviornment.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. During visits to production locations, the employee will need normal vision and hearing to safely navigate production floors and warehouses.

The employee moves objects occasionally up to 10 pounds

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $95,000to $110,000.
