Pay: $18/hour

Benefits:

* Paid Time Off (accrual based on # of hours worked each pay period)

* 4 floating holidays per full calendar year (prorated in first year)

* 401k - employer match is 100% up to the first 4% deferred

Schedule: Part-time, 24 hours per week. Set schedule below:

  • Sunday 9:45a-6:15p
  • Tuesday 11:45a-8:15p
  • Friday 11:45a-8:15p

Location: The location of the scheduled shift will vary between Woodbury, Coon Rapids and Golden Valley and will be provided the morning of the shift.

Additional information: The individual filling this role will be assigned to our Woodbury location as a home site and they will be eligible for mileage reimbursement when working at the other sites to compensate for additional miles incurred. The individual in this role is expected to have reliable transportation to travel to each of the sites and should expect to frequently work at different locations.

Job Purpose: You are a guest-oriented, self-motivated, and flexible team member who processes pet adoptions and provides customer service in a fast-paced environment. You serve as a first point of contact for adopters, visitors, donors, and volunteers in the adoption area. You support consistency in organizational services by being adaptable and working at the location assigned to you the morning of your shift.

What you will be doing:

Customer Service -Greet individuals promptly and maintain a high level of professionalism when responding to inquiries. Continually observe adoption area to ensure all individuals' needs are met. Thoroughly explain adoption process and prepare adopters for success by suggesting merchandise that best suits their needs.

Process - Complete adoptions, ensuring all transaction paperwork and computer records are accurate.

Support - Assist in the opening and closing of the adoption center and maintaining the appearance of merchandise and adoption area throughout the day.

Communication - Listen, pay attention, and be a responsible steward of information. Gather and convey information in a clear, complete, and timely manner. Be receptive to, and able to provide feedback in a professional manner.

Culture - Foster an open and inclusive environment by modeling AHS's behaviors and values, consistent with the vision and mission of the organization. Champion a culture of safety and promote meaningful volunteer engagement.

Requirements

What we are looking for:

Schedule - Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work at any of our locations during operational hours as defined by leadership with the expectation to work shifts that may include evening and weekend hours.

Experience - Customer service experience preferred.

Computer Skills - Proficient with computers, specifically, a working knowledge of Microsoft products.

Adaptability - Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations and the willingness to assist at all sites.

Communication - Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, must have ability to work as a member of the team and partner collaboratively with all departments.

Physical & Emotional Capabilities - Must be able to handle the physical aspect of working in a shelter, including warm and humid environments. Should be comfortable with handling a variety of animals with medical and behavioral needs. Must have a high level of resiliency and be able to handle the emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of humane euthanasia. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
