Plant Operations Manager will manage, direct, and ensure execution of the facility's vision and mission to assurecontinuous improvementand alignment with the corporate vision. This includesmaintaining safety of all associates, achieving production objectives in an efficient, cost-effective manner, and ensuring that all quality standards are met for both day and night shift.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the daily manufacturing operation ofboth first and second processing on night shiftensuring production goals and standards are met, including safety of associates and quality of product.
  • Ensure all Plantoperationsand business is conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
  • Ensure all quality and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded.
  • Collaborates with production planning and materials management to optimize scheduled attainment and customer service.
  • Review and analyze production reports to ensure achievement of safety, quality, and product cost efficiency goals are met or exceeded.
  • Set objectives and goals forFurther Processing managementteam and operation and monitor performance versus objectives.
  • Develop action plans to address opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive management engagement, training, and development to maximize safety, manufacturing, quality, and productivity goal attainment.
  • Coach, mentor, and developmanagers and supervisors and develop succession plan for Further processing area.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources in recruiting and retention efforts.
  • Communicate with Director on status of area i.e., safety, production, quality, and human resources.
  • Manage overall operating budget in line with current business plan.


    Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate and facilitate participation in all safety, human resources, etc. incentives within the facility.
  • Participate in facilitysafety audits, accident investigations,and other safety meetings.
  • Participates in plant cuttings to ensure that quality products are being produced.
  • Manage the daily operation in the absence of the departmentmanager.
  • Perform all other duties as necessary to ensure efficiency of operation.


    Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
  • Basic knowledge of thefood manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of USDA regulationsand requirements.
  • Basic knowledgeof OSHA regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of human resources principles and employment law.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer application skills including the utilization of mainframe, network, and PC business application software.

    Education and Experience
  • BS in Business,Poultry, Animal or Food Science, or related field or equivalent training and experience preferred.
  • 5 or more years of work experience at amanagerlevel in food processingpreferably in the Further Processing Environment

    Working Conditions:
    Approximately 70% of this individual's time will be spent in a manufacturing environment, which is cold and wet. Approximately 30% of the time will be spent in a controlled office environment.
