About the Job

Position Description
The Coordinator of Residential Life is responsible for providing direction and leadership for the implementation of residential life's student education and engagement programs for 5-6 residence hall/apartment communities. The Coordinator is also responsible for leading and directing various residential life committees and student-focused initiatives. The Coordinator provides direct supervision to 5-6 Residence Directors and indirect supervision to 2-5 Assistant Residence Directors. The Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Residential Life & Student Development and serves as one of the Residential Life Management Team members.


Position Responsibilities
Supervision (35%)
* Provide direction and support to all direct reports.
* Assist direct reports with the development and implementation of annual work plans.
* Provide and coordinate training and professional development for direct reports.
* Conduct annual mid-year and year-end performance reviews for direct reports.
* Train, develop, and support Assistant Residence Directors.
* Coordinate the recruitment and selection of professional full-time staff.
* Provide leadership and direction regarding student and non-student employment concerns.
* Leader in creating and supporting a socially just workplace environment by providing guidance and knowledge to employees, dedication to educate themselves on current events and language updates, and ongoing personal development regardless of personal impact.

Program Leadership (25%)
* Collaborate with the other Coordinator of Residential Life on all elements of the student staff (e.g., Community Advisor) experience.
* Oversee one of two Student Staffing Committees that could include training, selection, evaluation process, online manual, and ongoing individual and team development related to Community Advisor staff.
* Develop and monitor operating budgets for residential life and new initiatives.
* Assist with initiating, implementing, and supporting diversity and social justice initiatives.
* Serve as a departmental liaison on various campus wide committees.
* Participate in university student recruitment activities on behalf of HRL.

Residential Education & Student Development (20%)
* Direct the implementation of a comprehensive student development program which reflects the departmental SLICES of Belonging curriculum and facilitates student learning.
* Collaborate with Assistant Director of Residential Life & Student Development on lesson plans development and implementation.
* Collaborate with Assistant Director for Academic Initiatives and Student Engagement to provide leadership and direction for the implementation of academic related services and programs in collaboration with Living Learning Community partners.
* Collaborate with the Coordinator of Student Conduct regarding the implementation of the student development-based student conduct process.
* Provide direction and leadership for the development and implementation of student engagement and student leadership initiatives/programs.
* Lead and direct work teams and/or committees focused on educational initiatives.
* Review student satisfaction survey results and determine strategies to address hall or apartment related concerns.
* Assist with the assessment of Residential Life programs, services, operations, and procedures to facilitate improvements.

Management/Administration (20%)
* Monitor all Residential Life functions for 5-6 Residence Halls and Apartment Communities.
* Provide fiscal oversight/monitoring of residential life operating budgets for all halls/apartments within the area of responsibility.
* Assist with development and implementation of the residential life strategic plan, annual work plan, and provide input for the 10-Year Capital Plan.
* Manage all details related to professional staff transitions.
* Implement HRL's annual residence hall and apartment Move In process.
* Serve as the on call professional staff person on a regularly scheduled rotation with other professional staff members to provide direct crisis response to incidents involving students.

Work Environment:
The work is performed mainly in an office setting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
* Master's degree in College Student Personnel or other related field.
* Three years of completed full-time higher education experience (post master's degree).
* Experience with implementing student development and student leadership programs in a university/college housing program.
* Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion as a standard practice in everyday work.


Preferred Qualifications
* Previous experience supervising live in full time residential life staff.
* Previous experience working with international students, international programs, and social justice/inclusion initiatives.
* Previous full-time experience in a college/university housing program accommodating at least 2,000 residents.
