Overview

THIS IS A FULLY REMOTE POSITION BUT CANDIDATE MUST LIVE IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING STATES: MN, NY, IL, WI, CA, ID, MS, GA, FL, or VA.

Microsoft 365 Engineer's primary responsibility is to manage the design, administration, security, effectiveness, and support for Microsoft 365 and Entra ID services, including user and group management, integrations, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Microsoft Office. In addition, this position is responsible for supporting the organization's overall technology infrastructure. This position will take an active role in providing high quality end-user support, project management, and recommending organizational solutions.

Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 (75%)

    Design and deploy Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and other collaboration tools.
  • Configure and administer Microsoft 365 applications, ensuring optimal performance, security, and user experience.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Microsoft 365 services, Identity Management, and related issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Microsoft 365 services and Identity Management with other IT systems and applications.
  • Stay current with Microsoft 365 updates, features, and best practices, and recommend improvements to optimize our use of Microsoft 365, and emerging technologies in identity and access management.
  • Identify, implement, and train staff on Microsoft 365 automations that boost efficiency. This includes Power Automate, Power app, and other integrations.
  • Monitor and communicate the health of Microsoft 365 services and infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, training, and policies for Microsoft 365 services and Identity Management.
  • Configure and administer system security, compliance, and data protection features, such as multi-factor authentication, conditional access, and data loss and retention policies.
  • Assess system vulnerabilities and identify opportunities to optimize system performance.
  • Document processes and maintains records of system configurations and changes to assist with compliance with internal and external audits.
  • Implement and manage identity and access management solutions, including Entra ID, single sign-on (SSO), and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  • Configure and administer user authentication, authorization, and provisioning systems.
  • Perform user lifecycle management tasks such as onboarding, offboarding, and role-based access control.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and mitigate security risks and compliance gaps.

IT Support (15%)

  • Continuously monitor and address tickets in Ampact's internal ticketing system while upholding the identified SLAs.
  • Develop and implement technology strategies to support the goals of the organization.
  • Provide technical support for users and troubleshoot complex technical issues, explaining complicated technical concepts in easy-to-understand ways for users.
  • Assess and address end user training needs.
  • Creates instructional tools and resources for staff.
  • Analyze patterns of helpdesk support requests to identify and address the root cause of issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards and best practices.
  • Work closely with Ampact's IT staff and its managed services providers and ensure excellent customer service.

Technology Strategy (10%)

  • Work closely with the leadership teams to create requests for proposals, interview technology vendors, and select the right partners for upcoming projects.
  • Discover internal technology use trends and recommend changes to increase ease of use and productivity.
  • Manage IT projects involving system changes, deployment, design, integrations, and process improvement.
  • Collaborate with others to determine organizational system and technical needs; design and optimize solutions and systems to meet current and future needs.
  • Maintain a supportive and positive attitude towards staff, members, and vendors to support user adoption and provide confidence with end users.
Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Minimum Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in Office 365 system management, administration and support including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Microsoft Office
  • 5-7 years of experience in Identity Management
  • 2 years of experience providing help desk and desktop support services
  • Proven experience working with identity and access management technologies (e.g., Entra ID, Active Directory, LDAP, SAML, OAuth, IAM platforms).
  • Strong understanding of security principles and best practices, including encryption, authentication protocols, and access controls.
  • Experience with identity governance and administration (IGA) tools is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills include the ability to write clear technical and process documentation, ability to listen to understand individual and collective needs within the organization.
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are a plus.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 applications such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
  • Proficiency in identity and access management concepts and technologies, particularly Azure Active Directory.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate are a plus.
