Primary Responsibilities:

HDR has an opportunity for a Hydraulic Modeling and Planning EIT/Coordinator to join our water/wastewater group in our Twin Cities office. The primary duties of the Hydraulic Modeling and Planning EIT are:

  • To assist with projects and tasks related to water and wastewater system master planning, facility planning, and design for water supply, water distribution, sanitary collection systems, water and wastewater pump stations, water reuse, and related projects.
  • Preparation of planning studies, developing and calibrating water, wastewater, and stormwater hydraulic models, performing GIS data analysis, developing maps and figures, performing alternatives analysis, assisting with infrastructure renewal and rehabilitation studies, preparation of technical reports and cost analysis, capital planning, project management assistance, and client coordination.
  • Preparation of plans and specifications for water and wastewater treatment, distribution piping, collection systems, and associated facilities.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

This position has opportunities to participate in local and regional projects in the utility planning field.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • EIT certification required.
  • Proficiency in general computer skills with willingness and ability to learn new platforms through provided training
  • Basic proficiency in ArcGIS, mapping and analysis
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow technical and professional skills to meet client and market needs
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team, and possessing excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A positive, client service-oriented attitude and commitment to being an active participant in an employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 0 - 5 years of experience related to water/wastewater utility planning, hydraulic modeling and infrastructure design
  • Knowledge and experience with hydraulic modeling software (e.g. InfoWater, WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, EPANET, InfoSewer, SewerGEMS, SewerCAD, InfoSWWM and InfoWorks WS/CS/ICM)
  • Understanding of financial and administrative aspects of technical projects
  • Hands-on experience in any of the following technical areas: water and sewer master planning, water and sewer hydraulic modeling, asset management, asset condition assessment, infrastructure renewal and rehabilitation, capital improvements analysis and planning, cost analysis, data management
  • Experience working for a public, municipal, or investor owned water and/or wastewater utility, public works department, or engineering consulting firm is beneficial
