About the Job

Responsibilities

Financial analysis, oversight and management - 25%
*Provide financial oversight, analysis and management of sponsored and non-sponsored data. Assigned portfolio will be primarily non-sponsored funding with some sponsored funding.
*Prepare financial reports and present data to faculty. Forecast budgets and expenses.
*Ensure compliance with University policies and procedures
*Effort coordinator for assigned faculty and their research staff. Updates payroll distributions and enters payroll historical corrections (RTDs) as needed.
*Initiate financial transactions such as UMF transfers and journal entries as needed.
*Assist with faculty and admin staff questions regarding financial spending, policies, procedures, and issues.

Financial reporting - 30%
*Create financial statements. Report standard monthly reports for principal investigators to meet goals and objectives. Provide information to help in the decision making process.

Financial support - 20%
*Entry of journal entries for accounting team into EFS.
*Monitoring payroll default accounts and setting up new payroll distributions for new hires.
*Department Card Administrator (DCA) for Pcards and Tcards for the departments of Pediatrics, Ob/Gyn, and Emergency Medicine (POEM).

Document approval 15%
*Review and approve financial transactions in EFS and Chrome River for assigned approval deptids. Provide departmental staff information on expenditures requirements and policy.

Other financial duties - 10%
*Manage other common financial funds such as UMF funds, ISOs, and ESOs, etc. as needed.
*Assist with annual position and chartstring budgeting.
*Other related projects and assignments as needed.

Position Summary
The FP1 provides reporting to faculty in corresponding division(s).
The position is responsible for reporting and post-award management for several divisions in Pediatrics and Ob/Gyn. Varied situations require analysis using general precedents and procedures. The FP1 works under general supervision. Work is guided by general procedures and department expectations. Position should have demonstrated ability and proven experience troubleshooting and resolving issues and concerns independently, and escalating issues when needed.

Required Qualifications

*Requires BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
*Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
*Strong organizational and customer service orientation skills
*Strong communication skills with both financial and managerial staff
*Critical thinking and analysis skills
*Ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

*Experience with University systems such as PeopleSoft (EFS and HRMS), ECRT, DMS, UM Analytics, Chrome River.
*Knowledge of University financial policies and procedures.
*Experience with University financial system PeopleSoft (EFS and HRMS).
