Job Description

MAJOR FUNCTION

This role is a hands-on, Working Team Lead position that is responsible for setting the example by leading the daily operations within the Production Department to ensure that accurate and timely production is met with maximum efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work side by side with department team members with a sense of urgency and quality to complete daily goals and tasks.
  • Provide coaching assistance to the department team members while maintaining all company policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Production Manager in scheduling employees and ensuring adequate coverage of assembly lines.
  • Review daily goals at the beginning of the shift with department team members.
  • Train new hires and cross train employees; assign daily tasks.
  • Assist and troubleshoot line balance problems.
  • Communicate with Material Control Department to ensure WIP inventory is readily available for the assigned Manufacturing Order.
  • Oversee production requirements, progress and output for the assembly line assigned.
  • Daily performance to schedule and maintain efficiency goals of 90%.
  • Assist in the development of transitioning from batch manufacturing to one piece flow to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
  • Training and cross-training employees by rotating through the different workstations.
  • Troubleshoot and report quality and process problems on the line.
  • Reduce Quality defects due to assembly errors.
  • Assist in 5S activities.
  • Assist in Kaizen events.
  • Assist in documenting assembly processes and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Must be in good attendance standing.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write correspondence to different groups as needed. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Prior forklift driving experience.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and knowledge.
  • Ability to operate a fork-lift.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Provide leadership and line management to the team; coordinating workloads.
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and quality standards are being met in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Continuously develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, while fostering a culture of working safely.
  • Requires periodic overtime and standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching.
  • Must have experience leading / supervising employees.
  • Must be able to sustain and drive 5S activities and initiatives for a clean and organized environment.
  • Work positively with support functions to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities. Provide support and input to continuous improvement activities within the team.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Must have basic computer skills.
