Job Summary:

The Department of Residence Life in University Housing is recruiting for a Student Engagement Coordinator to join our team!

Our Student Engagement team inspires, empowers, and develops students. The Student Engagement Coordinator plans, executes, and assesses our campus-wide residence hall programming series: and . This position supervises two teams of students to facilitate these programs.

The Student Engagement Coordinator is also responsible for all programming and events for our summer term residents and is a key contributor to the campus-wide programming series.

Responsibilities: Oversees programming and support for residents living in campus housing, responds to emergency situations, and helps to create an inclusive and safe living community.
  • 25% Implements campus, divisional, and departmental priorities, focusing on community, student development, and academic success
  • 10% Coordinates and delivers centralized training of student and professional staff
  • 10% Reviews, tracks, and assesses programming and involvement opportunities
  • 20% Assists with creating inclusive and engaged residential communities that focus on student academic success
  • 30% May supervise the day-to-day activities of student and/or professional staff and may assist with the staff development plan including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation
  • 5% Triages and responds to emergency situations according to established policies and procedures in partnership with emergency personnel and law enforcement if necessary
Tasks:
  • Assists with SOAR activities
  • Assists with Wisconsin Late Night program
  • Assists with Wisconsin Weekdays program
  • Assists with summer programming (e.g. Summer Term, Spirit Exchange, etc.)
  • Assists with Wisconsin Welcome events
  • Manages social media platforms for Wisconsin Late Night and Wisconsin Weekdays programs
  • Manages marketing and communications for Wisconsin Late Night and Wisconsin Weekdays programs, in collaboration with University Housing Marketing
  • Supports unit staff as needed
  • Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency

Education:

Preferred
Master's Degree, with additional preference given to candidates with a degree in Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or a related field with relevant work experience.

Qualifications:

Required:
- At least two (2) years of experience planning events for college-aged audiences
- At least two (2) years of experience in student supervision

Preferred:
- Post-undergraduate employment experience in Housing, Residence Life, and/or Student Affairs

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $56,160 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
This is a full-time appointment. The starting annual salary is $56,160 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package.

Additional Information:

Primary schedule for this position is a mix of daytime business hours, 7:45am - 4:30pm, with regular evenings and weekends (Friday and Saturday from 8:00pm - 12:00am). Schedule alterations as operation and position expectations demand.
