Job Purpose: Provide direct care to patients in the endoscopy setting utilizing the nursing process of assessment and physician delegation. This opening is for a 0.75 FTE, (3, 10-hour) working shifts typically Monday-Friday, occasional/optional Saturday.

Essential Functions: In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily and regular attendance is required.   • Record patients' medical history and assessment.
  • Start IV/saline lock.
  • Perform INR and glucose testing.
  • Prepare patients for and assist physician in endoscopy procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records in the electronic health record.
  • Recovery of sedated patients and discharge assessments.
  • Utilize proper infection control techniques.
  • Monitor all aspects of patient care, anticipate patient and physician needs.
  • Instruct individuals and families on topics such as health education and disease prevention.

Additional Responsibilities May Include:

  • Infusion and injection administration
  • Esophageal Motility/PH testing
  • Assist with BRAVO Capsule placement
  • Capsule studies
  • Maintain supplies
  • Charge Nurse
  • Any and all other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing required. One to two years of clinical experience is required; GI related experience is preferred. Experience using an Electronic Health Record is required.

Certifications/Licenses: Current Minnesota Nursing License is required. Must be CPR certified

Physical Requirements: The physical requirements described here are representative of the physical demands required by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk, sit, reach overhead, bend to the floor, and may be required to stand for long periods of time. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is required to use dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, other clinic equipment, and to possibly perform phlebotomy. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to lift and transport items up to 50 pounds. The employee will be required to apply pressure to abdomen while assisting with procedures. Employees may be required to travel to other company locations due to staffing and training needs.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee works in a clinical environment and may be exposed to hazardous chemicals or conditions including exposure to blood or other body fluids. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and training will be provided. The employee is exposed to a computer monitor daily. The employee may be required to travel by automobile and exposed to changing weather conditions while performing the duties of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee must be alert to conditions that may impact the safety of patients, employees and visitors.
