Job Description

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated Maintenance/Boiler Tech to optimize our NuSil team, delivering results against some of the most complex business and technology initiatives.

This full-time, 3rd shift opportunity is located at our Bakersfield, CA facility. If you have experience as an oil field or industrial machine mechanic, a background in facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, welding, construction, pipeline, fabrication or repairing and maintaining equipment - let's talk!

Work Schedule: 3rd Shift (10 pm - 6:30 am)

The team:

Avantor's Biomaterials and Operations team is part of our NuSil Technology business unit. This team supports the maintenance and reliability department by helping with the maintenance and workflow of the facility.

What we're looking for:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; higher continuing education in related area considered a plus; Technical school preferred

  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years maintenance, mechanical or electrical experience in an industrial or educational setting

  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous facilities maintenance experience repairing and maintaining equipment and machinery (steam generation and boilers) preferred; Experience working in an ISO Certified, FDA Regulated, or cGMP environment preferred

How you will thrive and create an impact:

Under moderate supervision, the Maintenance/Boiler Tech installs, maintains, and repairs manufacturing equipment and fixtures.

  • Conducts basic maintenance activities primarily on machinery and related equipment.

  • Maintains repair and maintenance records.

  • Troubleshoots problems and escalates non-routine and complex issues.

  • Performs operation, maintenance, testing, and recordkeeping for steam generation equipment and boilers.

  • Maintains building electrical system and heating and cooling equipment.

  • Performs maintenance or general carpentry on items such as doors, floors, docks, overhead doors, roof downspouts, product racks, materials handling equipment, etc.

  • Completes required reports when maintenance tasks are concluded.

  • Answers security alarm calls as needed.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$42,000.00 - $70,000.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
