Cardiology Department - Echo 5 days / week 0700-1530
Weekends are rotated by staff. Weekend shifts are 0800-1630

Call is covered after hours on weeknights and weekends and is evenly split between staff

Under the direction of a cardiologist, performs diagnostic sonographic procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment. May be assigned as a preceptor in areas of specific competence. Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a sonographer.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Reviews patient chart and results of previous diagnostic studies and records patient's personal and medical information.
  • Selects appropriate equipment and proper technical factors on an individual patient basis according to specific orders and part of body examined.
  • Provides technical skills as required for testing (Intravenous access and contrast administration). Assists patient in assuming physical position for required examination. Provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • May assist in the use of a variety of equipment or procedures not routinely taught. Assists with other cardiovascular departments as needed.
  • Performs a variety of clerical and revenue tasks as necessary. May be responsible for specific areas of instruction and supervision of students in the School of Radiologic Technology, School of Ultrasound, technologists, and ancillary personnel.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school graduate.
  • At least one year of full time, experience in clinical.
  • If registry eligible, registration must be obtained within one year.

  • Registered or registry eligible is preferred.
