http://family.uark.eduSummary of Job Duties:The Associate Director of Parent & Family Programs plays a pivotal role in fostering strong connections between the University of Arkansas and parents/families of enrolled students. The position requires a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of parent and family dynamics, and a passion for enhancing the college experience for both students and their families. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of initiatives including the Parent & Family Association, Regional Razorback Family Networks, Family Weekend/Spring Family Reunion, Razorback Family Portal via CampusESP, first-generation family outreach, and networking opportunities both on campus and throughout the country. In-state and out-of-state travel is required for program delivery and outreach.

The position will provide guidance and leadership for all assessments and data reports and use this information to develop strategic goals and missions for all current and future programs within the department. In addition, the Associate Director will supervise and evaluate staff including the Coordinator of Family Engagement & Outreach, graduate, and undergraduate students. The Associate Director will develop outreach strategies and events with other units including but not limited to the Division of Student Affairs, University Development, Arkansas Alumni Association, Office of Admissions, and Razorback Athletics to target parents and families. The Associate Director will also assist with Student Engagement outreach programs and initiatives as directed by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement and assist in identifying parents and families to connect with University Development in support of the Parents Fund and other Student Affairs Giving.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in student affairs, higher education administration or related field

  • At least five years of relevant experience working directly with college students and parents/families of college students at the coordinator, assistant director, or similar level

  • Experience in planning, developing, and implementing complex strategic goals and program initiatives that require the effective management of resources, significant budget and financial operations, and experience collaborating with campus partners

  • Direct experience planning, executing, and evaluating large-scale university programs for specialized populations of students and/or parent and family members

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing successful parent and family engagement strategies within a higher education or related setting and strong understanding of student development and best practices in student transition programming on a college campus

  • At least five or more years of successful experience in planning, developing, and implementing complex strategic goals and program initiatives that require effective management of resources, significant budget and financial operations, and experience collaborating with parents/family members in an educational setting

  • Knowledge of best practices and trends in parent/family engagement and programming, including familiarity with national organizations such as NASPA, ACPA, NODA, and AHEPPP

  • Experience fostering collaborations with academic departments, student organizations, campus offices, and external stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness and reach of targeted programs and initiatives

Additional Information:


Salary Information:

$63,000 - $65,000
