Position Summary

Global Procurement Strategist: Navigating Business Horizons

In the intricate web of global commerce, our Global Procurement Strategist takes the helm. Their compass points toward business needs, supplier relationships, and strategic maneuvers. Here's their roadmap:

  1. Strategic Sourcing Mastery:

    • Our strategist crafts procurement strategies that span continents. Aligned with business imperatives, they deftly manage existing supplier relationships and seek fresh sources when needed.
    • Regular dialogues with senior leaders and collaborative initiatives are their forte. And when supplier contracts need negotiation, they lead the way.
  2. Product Lifecycle Navigator:

    • Beyond spreadsheets, our strategist oversees the entire product lifecycle. They decipher market demands, track technology trends, and analyze the competitive landscape.
    • Setting the strategic product roadmap becomes their opus. Their input shapes product development, marketing, pricing, and launch strategies, optimizing share and margin across the portfolio.
  3. Harmonizing Revenue and Need:

    • Collaborating closely with sales, marketing, and procurement, our strategist orchestrates revenue growth and profitability.
    • They evaluate material and production resources, ensuring product designs resonate with customer demand on a global scale.

Duties

  1. Global Procurement Leadership:

    • Lead multi-site global procurement organization.
    • Focus on supply planning, vendor management, purchasing, and inbound logistics.
  2. Strategic Alignment:

    • Lead Product Management function, ensuring alignment with sourcing strategy.
    • Align Key Surgical Marketing with sourcing efforts.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Interface directly with senior leadership to meet company objectives.
    • Prioritize quality, service, reliability, and fulfillment.
  4. Category Strategies:

    • Develop, execute, and analyze global category strategies.
    • Address current needs and future objectives.
  5. Supplier Relationships:

    • Rationalize supply base for cost reduction and risk mitigation.
    • Enhance leverage of procurement spend.
  6. Market Insights:

    • Analyze data to anticipate global industry and market trends.
    • Develop long-term portfolio strategies.
  7. Supply Chain Challenges:

    • Resolve complex supply challenges with effective communication.
    • Foster continuous improvement opportunities.
  8. Operational Efficiency:

    • Understand operational considerations.
    • Partner with leadership to drive value improvements and reduce inventory.
  9. Financial Responsibility:

    • Manage global procurement budget and forecasts.
    • Align procurement with financial plans.
  10. Local Oversight:

    • Manage purchasing in Eden Prairie MN and Lensahn.
    • Oversee backorder processes.

Required Experience
  • MBA or supply chain related Masters degree strongly preferred.
  • 15 years related sourcing, purchasing or procurement experience
  • Minimum 10 years management experience
  • Solid organizational and project management skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid working knowledge and proficiency in ERP/MRP systems;
  • Experience and understanding of Lean Manufacturing
  • Prior marketing experience preferred
  • Prior supply chain/operations experience within the medical industry is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting contracts, leading supplier negotiations and RFIs/RFPs
  • Demonstrated collaboration and influencing skills
  • Strong project and time management skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
  • Intimate knowledge and understanding of various procurement methods, strategic sourcing and supply chain practices & strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing continuous improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S)
  • Subject matter expert within material categories, market places, indexes and trends arena
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ERP software (Oracle strongly preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
