Your role and responsibilities

Review and analyze customer specifications
Coordinate input from product management to advise in development of bids responsive to customer requirements. Simultaneously process information on multiple and varied projects and respond effectively to changes in priorities
Utilize engineering data, drawings, customer specifications, ABB product knowledge and related information to design and propose cost effective solutions
Offer technical advice and provides comment on enquiry specifications for customers/channels/Sales Specialists with regard to ABB products/systems/ applications
Provide technical support during technical meetings, product presentations and negotiations
Perform analytic and diagnostic studies to determine the most suitable technical solution to meet customer needs
Propose technical solutions for complex enquiries
Prepare and deliver technical presentations and demonstrations for both internal staff and customers on complex product issues
Offer product/solution/service related training
Support proposal development with local sales unit and help from global sales specialists/product managers
Actively participate in customer discussions; provide technical proposals; cocreation workshops with customers; technical guidance for the customer etc
Help design value driven solutions to meet customer bid specifications
Lead demonstration of technical solutions and project value propositions in a concise form that resonates with customer senior management
Develop relationships and actively maintains a technical knowledge exchange with key technical contacts both globally and locally
Knowledge documentation and sharing to ensure consistency across the unit/team
Coach and develop junior team members to deliver assignments and provide technical guidance to colleagues
Conduct risk and opportunity assessments for proposed solutions in automation and control
Propose and initiate actions to mitigate and control risks in one's area of responsibility
Ensure budget (volumes) and profitable growth targets are achieved in US
Ensure achievement of targets on orders, net price variance (NPV), Net Promoter Score (NPS)

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business or related field and minimum 7 years of experience in automation and control of chemical/ oil & gas/ utilities; alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments
  • 10 years of experience preferred
  • Expert knowledge in Automation solution for DCS
  • Expert knowledge of communication protocols encountered in the automation space
  • Knowledge of digital applications in industry
  • Demonstrate effective communication with sales, sales management, product managers, business drivers and customers to help drive a solution to a specific customer request
  • Ability to learn and apply varying technical solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Able to interpret customer requests with various level of detail to formulate an ABB solution and path forward
  • Can set priorities and solicit support as required to meet deadlines
  • Able to identify risks and propose mitigation plan
  • Some travel may be necessary (less than 20 percent)
  • Individual must be able to demonstrate initiative and motivation to achieve the results with minimal supervision
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
