Position in this function is responsible for transforming new clients to Optum's Global Operating Model (OGOM) by serving as a change agent for the middle revenue cycle Transformation team. This role will lead key initiatives in transformation to deliver performance excellence through standardization of processes and focus primarily on ensuring best practices are implemented and stabilized. This position is key in implementation of change, consistently improving the patient, employee, and client experience. The position is a critical member of the Optum360 Transformation team. This position must maintain solid client relationships and represent Optum360 in all aspects of its values.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads new client onboarding and transformation by utilizing a diverse group of resources (people and technology) to integrate new clients into the standard OGOM
  • Leads the PMO/PM discipline for technology implementations related to HB Coding
  • Establish the standard HB Coding methodology to measure productivity, efficiency, scalability, human touch volume, and workflow
  • Leads new client to strengthen HB Coding governance
  • Leads analytics efforts to build and deliver multiple performance metrics
  • Support TOPS implementation and ongoing maintenance
  • Institutionalizes the best practices and standard processes of the OGOM. Critical in training operations on the use of the OGOM levers and ensuring new client transformations aligns directly to the OGOM
  • Drives coding quality assurance program by measuring adherence to OGOM processes
  • Change champion that collaborates and aligns with operational partners to drive OGOM
  • Partner across organization to drive transformation via engagement in assessment of people, process, and technology
  • Collaborate and share with operational leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • AHIMA or AAPC Credentialed
  • 5+ years of multi-system HIM coding leadership experience in an acute care facility setting. Leadership can be defined as being a supervisor, manager, or higher
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel nationwide 25-50% of the time, based on client need

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coding compliance/audit experience
  • Experience with Optum eCAC
  • Experience working collaboratively with CDI departments in partnership to improve reimbursement accuracy
  • Experience leading large complex projects and/or implementations
  • Epic HB Coding
  • Proven record of managing successful hospital coding departments with proven metrics and value add to the organization

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
