Posting Summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Per Diem Physician Specialist for Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women, located in Clinton, NJ.

Duties for this position include:
  • Represents University Correctional Health Care and the New Jersey Department of Corrections in a positive and cooperative manner.
    • Is responsible for the delivery of high quality, efficacious medical care to obstetrical and gynecological pregnant inmates admitted to the New Jersey Department of Corrections and placed at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women.
  • Provides obstetrical and gynecological care.
    • Serves as an attending as assigned for gynecological care.
    • Provides gynecological and obstetrical services according to community based practice standards for female inmates of New Jersey Department of Corrections.
  • Interacts with staff members of the Medical department of in a collegial fashion.
  • Involves the inmate-patient to explain diagnosis, plan of care, possible outcomes, and any other informationthat should be shared with the patient and family.

Minimum Education and Experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Medical school graduate. Graduate of an accepted residency program in OB/GYN medicine.
  • Licensed physician in the state of New Jersey. Current DEA registration. Qualified by the state laws/regulations to practice medicine.
  • Experienced in OB-GYN specialty.
  • Computer Literacy
  • Valid Driver's License. Possesses own vehicle or have alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
