JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant, Inventory is responsible for performing complex accounting activities and financial analyses with a primary focus on inventory. The Senior Accountant is highly detail-oriented, able to utilize hands-on accounting experience, and has an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices. This position requires a team player that can work cross-functionally and enjoys working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain and enhance tracking of inventory; rotable, repairable, and expendable balances.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and utilize monthly reports to reconcile detail sub-ledger (TRAX) records to the Company's general ledger system.
  • Research variances and resolve issues.
  • Ensure procedures and controls for inventory reserves, additions, and disposals are adhered to.
  • Maintain tracking of consignment inventory for end-of-life engines being decommissioned.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for maintenance reserves, inventory related accounts, and other balance sheet accounts as assigned.
  • Responsible for on-going development, execution and improvement of accounting processes and controls and function as a subject matter expert for inventory accounting processes.
  • Function as liaison between maintenance organization, TRAX specialist, and the accounting department to ensure the accounting for inventory is being handled and recorded correctly.
  • Ensure assigned SOX controls and tasks are properly completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and update warrant vesting recognition schedule as well as start-up cost amortization, including related forecasting, for certain customer agreements.
  • Prepare monthly amortization entries for debt and lease arrangements.
  • Identify and drive improvements by developing a thorough understanding of end-to-end processes related to inventory.
  • Provide accurate support for external auditors on maintenance and inventory related transactions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in accounting
  • Superior critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with various levels of employees
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including the ability to manipulate spreadsheets
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends as required, particularly during the accounting close process and annual audit

  • Great Plains and Blackline experience
  • Public accounting experience
  • Travel or aviation-related experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
