We have an opportunity for a Sustainability Manager to join our Golden Valley, MN team. You will be an integral part of the social responsibility (ESG) team helping to develop and execute strategies to amplify Pentair's leadership solving the world's water challenges. As part of this dynamic team, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and coordinating enterprise level programs and projects deployed across manufacturing sites, warehouses, and offices to support our continued ambition to lower our operational water and carbon footprint. In addition, you will be the lead partner to the Supply Chain and operational teams across the company to develop and implement Pentair's responsible supply chain programs.

You will:

  • Manage CSRD, SEC and other securities related compliance projects in partnership with ESG legal partner.
  • Develop vision, strategy, and operational plan for embedding best practices as it relates to environmental and social impact within the supply chain. Specifically, this includes:
    • Developing and operationalizing strategies for reducing Pentair's upstream (scope 3) supplier carbon emissions footprint in partnership with Pentair's sourcing team.
    • Partnering with sourcing, legal and compliance teams to assess and develop strategies for further advancing and document social impact issues throughout the supply chain.
  • Develop operational carbon and water reduction strategies for the enterprise and coordinate implementation of these strategies and related programs at an enterprise level. You will be building a path to achieving of our Water, GHG, and Supply Chain strategic targets and lead on successful achievement of goals set by the board, executives, and organization. This includes:
    • Setting corporate policies supporting the transition for fossil fuels to renewable electricity
    • Budgeting, tracking capital and operational expenses, developing strategies, and deploying guidance for sustainable operations.
    • Partnering with the Lean Operations team to track and manage progress of projects and programs with manufacturing and facilities site leadership teams. This includes partnering with individual sites to track project implementation as well as developing and deploying best practices throughout the network of sites.
    • Researching potential water and energy solutions/innovative technology and partnering with manufacturing facilities to evaluate and prove out energy and water savings.
  • Partner with environmental data manager and operations to develop annual and quarterly plans and forecasts for water and energy/GHG use and tracking long term effectiveness of implemented projects and supporting the businesses to adapt to changing needs.
  • Participate as a subject matter expert (and lead where designated) in operations and supply chain to support regulatory disclosures and compliance with regulatory requirements including: the EU CSRD, US State laws, the SEC climate disclosure requirements.
    • Specifically, this includes facilitation of scope three data collection from the procurement teams, developing scope three reduction strategies, develop subject matter expertise in climate and biodiversity as well as distill and communicate the results of biodiversity and climate risk assessments into actionable information and strategies for operations and supply chain teams.
  • Collaborate with communications team to draft and execute Pentair's ESG communication plan for to increase awareness around Pentair's operational carbon and water strategies and assist in drafting annual reports, public responses, and publications.
  • Support trade compliance and Pentair facility leads to complete Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism reports.
  • Assess new regulations and lead projects related to specific manufacturing carbon footprint disclosures or other sustainability reporting at the manufacturing site level reporting as needed.
  • Collaborative partner to the Supply chain teams including sourcing, operations, and manufacturing, as well as water conservation engineer, and other members of the social responsibility team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, project management, operational management, or related fields
  • B.A. required, chemistry, biology, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in sustainable procurement practices, manufacturing, operations, and/or carbon accounting preferred.
  • Initiative-taking and self-directed, agile, and able to multi-task a large variety of projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, writing, and speaking), ability to influence.
  • Ability to actively participate in team development, collaborative processes and motivate others to do the same.
  • Skilled in building successful relationships across a matrixed environment.
  • Strong work ethic and proven record of consistently delivering high quality work.
  • Strong aptitude for organization, prioritization, and managing multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Strong ethics, values, and a passion to preserve human life and the environment.
