SUMMARY

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Cardiac Sonographer Supervisor in our Echo Cardiography department. As it pertains to clinical operations, coordinate and maintain daily operational activities of the practice. This includes patient flow and team members to maximize patient satisfaction and service. This also includes implementing improvements in quality, team members performance and customer service initiatives to create superior patient experience. This position is responsible for ensuring maximal efficiency of systems through creative problem solving, conflict management, and critical thinking. As it pertains to cardiac sonography supervision, this position is also responsible for, managing and coordinating daily operations of the modality related to cardiac sonography in multiple departments, ensuring each area is adequately staffed with team members to meet patient demand.

Clinical Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily operations of the program including designing, implementing, and maintaining clinical services to assure efficient patient flow as well as responsibility for sonographer scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing
  • In collaboration with the manager, interview, conduct employee orientation, onboard new employees, conduct performance reviews, and verify employee competencies
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and team members. Maintains compliance with all safety requirements impacting areas of responsibility
  • Determine and justify team member's needs
  • Provides support for providers in resolving problems and addressing issues so that they can effectively practice medicine
  • Work collaboratively with providers and other team members to optimize efficient and effective operations
  • Promotes a congenial work environment among providers and practice team members based on mutual respect
  • Establish and monitor performance / quality improvement activities in the practice to comply with organizational expectations for providing effective care and efficient, patient-centered service. Engage team members in monitoring activities and facilitate team members selection of appropriate indicators
  • Model and foster good customer service skills to promote patient satisfaction
  • Assist practice/nurse manager in preparation of budget to ensure appropriate fiscal and human resource management of the practice
    Oversee procurement and appropriate maintenance of medical and pharmaceutical supplies and equipment
  • Assure on-going compliance with accreditation, credentialing, regulatory and professional standards, as well as HCMC policies and procedures impacting the clinical area
  • Assist Practice/Nurse Manager in promoting and developing marketing activities to ensure continued practice growth and market share
    Perform or delegate completion of required audits (weekly, monthly, etc.)
  • Perform other functions as assigned

Communication:

  • Maintain effective working relations through strong communication skills up, down and across the organization
  • Meet with entire team members on a frequent basis, to do the following:
    • Disseminate information
    • Give employees opportunity for input and problem solving
    • Follow-up on actions taken in meetings
    • E-mail, department newsletter, posting of important information
    • Work closely with Medical Director and encourage and foster participation of all providers in running an efficient and effective clinic operation

Fiscal Management:

  • Assist Manager in developing and managing the budget
  • Monitor supply use and team members use of overtime and develop suggested plan of correction where appropriate
    Provide input for capital equipment needs and planning

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or completion of accredited program for Cardiac Sonography
  • Credentialed by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)

  • Credentialed by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of supervisory experience
  • Training or understanding of Lean/Process Improvement
  • High skill level in Microsoft applications
