Job Description

This may be the opportunity for you! Securian Financial's Strategic Technology Vendor Management team has a job opening for a Sourcing Manager. In this role you'll use a relationship-first approach to support key initiatives in the company's technology transformation and drive alignment with enterprise-wide goals. Be a part of a team devoted to taking a strategic approach leading the enterprise through technology sourcing, contracting, category and vendor management activities, serving as a trusted partner to drive key outcomes.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Negotiate technology focused contracts such as Software, SaaS, Hardware, and Professional Services to mitigate business, financial, legal, reputational and technical risk.
  • Provide relationship management functions for technology vendors including establishing and maintain mutually beneficial long-term relationships with key technology vendors.
  • Lead and provide oversight to cross-functional teams throughout the entire sourcing process for technology products and services.
  • Manage technology categories to optimize Securian Financial spend while meeting or exceeding client needs and driving key business outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for negotiating win-win, mutually beneficial partnerships with vendors.
  • Demonstrated skill in data-driven analyses that drives creative problem solving, strategy creation, and negotiation.
  • Understanding of contract law and compliance with experience assessing and mitigating risk.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and an ability to collaborate with people at all levels inside and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment: prioritize and maintain productivity while managing high volumes.
  • Advanced project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Information technology background/experience.
  • 3 years' experience in technology category related contracting, procurement, sourcing or vendor management.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree with a focus on business, risk management, law or IT.

Securian Financial believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture. Associates get the benefit of working both virtually and in our offices. This position requires you to live in a commutable distance (90 minutes) of our Home Office in St. Paul, MN. You'll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn't feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.), an eight day per month standard is an option.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Ability to utilize the keyboard, computer and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Ability to utilize the phone and/or virtual meeting platform for 1-4 hours per day
  • Ability to perform simple grasping including paper manipulation, sorting, folding, etc. periodically throughout the workday
