About the role:

Wiley Workplace Learning Solutions is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Privacy and Compliance Specialist who possesses a unique balance of Privacy & Compliance program management skills to join our Team. They must thrive in fast-paced environments, drive innovative process changes through multiple organizations and teams, and simultaneously support several projects at once influencing a growing global organization.

This position reports to the Director of Global Partner Success and serves as a key team member for support and execution of the enterprise-wide strategy to optimize the privacy and security compliance posture of the organization. This role is also responsible for responding to customer privacy and security questionnairesand inquires and executing data processing agreements. This role requires leadership, creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit to effectively communicate with and support our internal and external stakeholders globally. As Privacy and Compliance Specialist, you will lead the continued development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of our security and privacy programs in collaboration with Wiley's Legal, Data Protection, and Security teams.

How you will make an impact:

  • Coordinate with counterparts in other business functions including Product, Technology, Legal, HR, Facilities, etc. to insure business-wide alignment on security and privacy positioning and messaging.
  • Work closely with customer facing and internal teams to respond to security questionnaires, data processing agreement requests, security and privacy elements in RFPs and RFIs, and privacy related inquiries
  • Partner and collaborate with counterparts within the larger Wiley organization to align and standardize related practices.
  • Consult with Product Development teams to ensure that our products remain compliant and that product strategies and roadmaps are aligned with our privacy, security and compliance requirements.
  • In conjunction with the enterprise teams maintain documentation related to security & privacy policies and practices, GDPR and other relevant regulations as well as the execution of customer agreements.
  • Use internal and external industry resources to maintain currency involving domestic and international security and privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Recommend changes to business process and policies as needed.

We are looking for people who:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2 to 3 years of data privacy, compliance and/or security experience is required. Experience in implementing and managing a privacy compliance program and writing policies and procedures to support that program is preferred.
  • Experience with industry-wide security and privacy standards and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, etc.) are required.
  • Experience implementing GDPR-specific policies and controls.
  • Privacy or security certification (CIPP, CIPM, CDP, CISSP, CISA etc.)
  • CIPP and/or CIPM certifications are highly preferred (if not already certified, candidate must be willing to commit to obtaining privacy certification within 1 year of start date).
  • Must have experience in effective communication of privacy-related details to both the technical and business stakeholders, up to Executive level, through verbal and written communication.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
