TITLE: Seasonal Garden Attendant
SUPERVISOR: Private & Corporate Events Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Temporary/Casual (job code: 0001)


OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for attending to the day of needs for on site events, primarily setting up outdoor weddings and events.


JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assist a Reservation Specialist with the details of wedding ceremonies, receptions and outdoor events in accordance with Arboretum policies. Key duties include:
* Safely driving a golf cart around the Arboretum property with event supplies
* Setting up and taking down wedding ceremony seating
* Keeping outdoor ceremony locations private and redirecting Arb guests during event times
* Act as the point of contact for the event client and communicate their needs to the Reservation Specialist or appropriate team member.
* Assisting Reservation Specialist with indoor reception event needs
* Attending to select Arboretum Signature Events with outdoor setup and details
* Assist with changes that occur because of inclement weather or facility updates
* Ensure that gardens are cleaned up following events

Hours/days of week: Hours will be determined by the Private & Corporate Events Manager. Hours will include evenings and weekends May-October. Hourly rate: $18/hr

Qualifications

Required Qualifications (must be mentioned on application/resume):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to problem solve quickly
About the Department

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the University of Minnesota's College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. The Arboretum is located west of Minneapolis/St Paul and its 1,200 acres traverse the municipalities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Victoria. As a member of the American Public Garden Association and an accredited museum through the American Alliance of Museums, the Arboretum is a tremendous public asset.
