Summary of Job Duties:The Assistant Professor position includes teaching primarily in the area of media production and design in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and weekend formats. Faculty will be expected to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the community, teach courses as assigned, have an active research/creative work agenda, and participate in university and community service. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Terminal degree (PhD, EDD, JD, MFA) in media production and design or a related field. ABD or AB thesis considered.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • College teaching experience in media production and/or related field.
  • Industry experience (film, television, and/or related field);
  • Student supervisory experience
  • Research/creative activity related to the discipline and consistent with departmental focus and needs;
  • Experience with industry-standard software and equipment.

Job Duties and/or Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats;
  • Serve as faculty advisor for student organizations;
  • Advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students;
  • Have an active research agenda;
  • Participate in university and community service;
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
  • Collaborate to strengthen media production program;
  • Teach core mass communication courses;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of news, TV broadcasting, or video production;
  • Ability to adapt to an evolving media landscape;
  • A program of research consistent with departmental focus;
  • Ability to teach a variety of courses within our curriculum in traditional and online formats;
  • Desire to engage in professional service activities in the community.
