Job Summary:

The Senior Customer Application Leader will join the Application development group. This role plays a key part in leading application development initiatives for specialty chemical products within Aurorium. Reporting to the Application Director, this role involves overseeing the execution of application development projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving innovation to meet customer needs and business objectives. In this role you are the bridge between the innovation team and the market.

Responsibilities:

Role Specific Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of assigned application development projects, from conceptualization to commercialization, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to application development teams,
  • leveraging expertise in chemistry, materials science, and end application to design
  • and optimize specialty chemical formulations and applications.
  • Collaborate closely with customers to understand their needs, challenges, and performance criteria, serving as a trusted advisor and advocate for Aurorium's products and solutions.
  • Work closely with R&D, business development, sales, and marketing teams to coordinate efforts, share insights, and address technical, operational, and commercial aspects of application development projects.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in application development processes, methodologies, and technologies, fostering a culture of creativity, experimentation, and excellence within the team.
  • Work safely and actively participate in safety and productivity improvement initiatives
  • To carry out special projects or other duties as needed

Qualifications/Desired Skills:

Education and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
  • Ph.D. in chemical engineering, colloid and surface science, polymer science, chemistry, material science or equivalent preferred

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience developing new products in one of our focus technology/applications areas of personal care, coatings, polymers, or materials
  • Experience in customer facing roles
  • Experience in stage-gate program management desired
  • Demonstrated experience translating customer requirements into technology development projects
  • Demonstrated success working as a self-starter and handling multiple projects
  • Demonstrated strong communication, creativity, and innovation skills
  • Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to travel about 25% of the time as required for customer visits/trials

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to flex own style as needed to influence and drive results
  • Ability to work within a multi-functional, global organizational structure and exhibits robust interpersonal skills
  • Critical thinking and conflict resolution skills and analytical abilities which allow assessment of customer issues, situations, and opportunities
  • Self-motivated and able to work within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Excellent proficiency within Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
