Basic Function:

To safely machine and operate quality components using various types of machining centers.

Responsibilities:

* Keep safety as a primary focus by working safely, following safety policies and work instructions, asking for help, promptly reporting safety concerns, and utilizing the Stop & Seek program, as required

* Accurately monitor and record data as requested for labor reporting, and inventory control.

* Continuously observe machines, fixtures, peripheral equipment, gauging, materials, parts, etc., for obvious defects or malfunctions.

* Perform machine specific tooling offsets of CNC machines.

* Replace and adjust existing tooling in a tool rest, to maintain production within specifications.

* Monitor for visual tooling defects both work-holding and cutting tools and ensure first piece approval.

* Monitor measured part dimensions, if discrepant utilize "Stop & Fix" procedures to correct.

* Machine and control knowledge to operate all pieces of equipment within the department.

* Positively and actively contribute to High Performance Teams (HPTs) by participating in Team Improvement Boards (TIB) reviews, problem solving and task completion.

* Positively support change initiatives by actively contributing to and participating in lean principles and Kaizen events.

* Perform housekeeping duties including cleaning machines, fixtures, tooling, gauging, and peripheral equipment, as required to maintain parts and equipment within specified limits.

* Develop knowledge of proper handling techniques and use of coolants, monitor and maintain appropriate levels, check refractory levels.

* Operate equipment within measured time elements.

* Perform de-burring and/or clean parts within measured time elements.

* Assist all other employees in the department as needed.

* Keep work area neat, clean and organized using the 5S+Safety approach.

* Submit waste reductions/cost avoidances.

* Follow standard work, process sheets and work instructions.

* Be a respectful team player and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all team members and supervision.

* Promote and practice 5S + Safety approach by keeping work area neat, clean, and organized, and following safety and housekeeping rules

* Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate.

Requirements:

* High School diploma or equivalent.

* Knowledge of machining related to equipment, methods, tooling, gauging, etc., which are typically learned through at least 1 year of machining experience.

* Basic understanding of blueprint reading.

* Good communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to adapt to changing roles and changing priorities.

Physical Requirements:

* Frequently will stand.

* Regularly will lift up to 50 pounds, walk, twist, grasp, reach, and handle.

Working Conditions:

* A very loud environment with exposure to or use of chemicals, oils, vibration while using tools, and moving equipment.
