Clinical Assessment Counselor

Hours: 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm 24 Hours per week

Location: New Brighton, MN

Job Duties Core Functions:

  • Determine the client's appropriateness for admission or
  • Determine the client's eligibility for admission or
  • Identify any coexisting conditions (medical, psychiatric, physical, etc.) that would interfere with participation in residential treatment.
  • Conduct chemical health assessment interviews including over the phone and in the community.
  • Gather relevant history from the client, including but not limited to, alcohol and other drug use using appropriate interview

Skills Needed:

  • Assessment skills
  • Crisis intervention
  • Understanding of co-occurring disorders
  • Referent/patient education
  • Documentation standards
  • Consultations with other professionals regarding client treatment and services
  • Communication with team members, referents, and patients
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships

Licensure:

  • Adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies governing alcohol and other drug abuse
  • Maintain professional license.
  • Attend all in-service training.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have current Minnesota State Licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC)
  • 2-3 years related experience required or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • A minimum of two years free from chemical abuse problems.
