The Legal Compliance Team Attorney is responsible for supporting all aspects of the company's ethics and legal compliance objectives, including providing advice and counseling in the areas of anti-bribery, antitrust, and the company's Code of Conduct. The successful candidate must possess the interpersonal skills to engage successfully with all levels of the organization. The role requires a process-driven professional who actively prioritizes integrity, accountability, collaboration, and fostering positive change.

A Day in the Life:

  • Supporting development and management of ethics and compliance programs, policies and procedures.
  • Providing advice and counsel to all business and corporate teams located in the U.S. on the Code of Conduct, anti-bribery, antitrust and other regulatory matters.
  • Delivering ethics and legal compliance trainings, driving employee engagement and awareness campaigns, and otherwise fostering a culture of compliance across the organization.
  • Administering annual enterprise risk self-assessment and other audits, as needed; developing, tracking and communicating various compliance metrics.
  • Assisting with regulatory due diligence and integration activities in connection with M&A transactions.
  • Managing and providing recommendations in response to employees' requests pertaining to gifts/entertainment, political contributions, and other external activities.
  • Anticipating potential exposure and maintaining awareness of legal developments and best practices in the areas of ethics and legal compliance that could impact Daikin's operations in the U.S.
  • Collaborating with the legal team and business partners across the organization to advance the company's business priorities in a manner that is consistent with its Core Values, the Code of Conduct and other company policies, and applicable laws.
  • Assisting with corporate governance matters, including ensuring that corporate formalities are observed and are properly documented.

What you will Bring:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited Law School
  • Active license to practice law, with either admission to the bar of the State of Minnesota or a limited in-house counsel license to practice law in the State of Minnesota
  • 4+ years of in-house, law firm and/or regulatory agency experience in the areas of ethics and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability of analyzing, interpreting and applying the substance of complex laws and regulations with strong preference for relevant anti-bribery, antitrust and other compliance regulations.
  • Prior corporate governance experience is a plus.
  • A high level of integrity, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build consensus and put a strong emphasis on responsibility and accountability.
