Job Description

The Quality Assurance organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping its internal customers, S&C leaders and team members, deliver superior quality to our customers. Quality planning, inspection, audit, quality information, quality improvement consulting, and quality communications are examples of the kind of services that the organization provides.

In this job you will be responsible for inspecting S&C product such as; electrical components, programming circuit boards, verifying the operations of micro AT's and other controls, dielectric testing of components and testing high voltage electrical equipment that are used in the switch gear systems and the smart grid protection products. This will include using test simulators, design special product testing, electronic & electrical equipment, electronic measurement instrumentation, torque measuring tools, reading electrical & electronic schematic diagrams, using inspection checklist (ISP's, PSP's and detailed standard work), entering & retrieving data in the oracle system, saving electrical documentation in the Source One system, accessing any special mechanical & electrical drawings, troubleshoot to component level, high level electronic board programming and able to close out any product job orders and specials.


The job responsibilities are to perform high level mechanical & electrical inspections to subassemblies and final assemblies in any product line. The requirements are for the inspector to work with assembly operations, engineers, customers and leaders with detailed process documentation, industry standards, specifications, instruction bulletins, a thorough review of mechanical and electrical schematic diagrams and complete checklist. Update standard work procedures and notate changes of ISP's and checklist with engineering and leaders. The inspector will also operate mechanical & electrical sub-assemblies and final assemblies by using several types of inspection equipment and selecting the proper measuring equipment such as torque wrenches, digital multi-meters, hi-pot testers, high voltage (HV) dielectric testing, partial discharge (PD) testing, install & upgrade SEL relay logic, programming several types of boards, and operate AC/DC motor testing.


In order to perform this specific inspection job, the inspector must have excellent verbal & writing communications skills such as; communicating and recording abnormal conditions on checklist, defects per unit (DPU) reports and document non-conforming material (NMR) returns and contact the supplier quality engineer (SQE) in order to test and resolve all non-conforming parts. All abnormal conditions must be communicated to assembly team members and production & inspection leaders. At times the inspector may need to communicate all abnormal conditions to designers and engineers in order to evaluate if the S&C product meets customer satisfaction or requires rework.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Job Responsibilities
* Record all defects on the checklist, DPU reports, non-conforming materials reports and
document & sort with the SQE's all bad parts.
* Inspect and operate all types of mechanical & electrical sub & final assemblies.
* Inspect wire terminations including crimps and maintain yearly certifications.
* Inspect all types of electrical and electronic components.
* Perform HV dielectric testing and partial discharge testing on any unit.
* Follow all safety practices and procedures (ISP's, PSP's and Standard Work).
* Oversee all activity boards in all inspection lines including 5S, out of the box - CSP's and
DPU's.
* Update and enter all defects in the oracle quality collection plan for all inspection lines.
* Ensure mechanical tools and electrical equipment is calibrated, valid for the test and safe
to use in all inspection lines.
* Train other Electrical Quality Technologists in the department
* High level programming of electronic boards.
* Troubleshoot on their own and assist the team in troubleshooting.
* Work on their own and schedule workflow with the team
* Schedule work orders with production and leaders in all inspection lines.

Job Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
* Associates technical degree or work equivalent.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Must possess intermediate MS Office skills (Excel Database and Word).
* Analytical abilities with good attention to detail in all inspection lines.
* Able to troubleshoot to component level in all inspection lines.
* Able to explain and demonstrate abnormalities to engineering, leadership and team
members.
* Able to communicate with Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE) about non-conforming parts.
* Able to contact and resolve problems with the engineer responsible for the product line
when issues arise.
* Able to operate digital multi-meters, micro ohm meters, torque wrenches and scopes.
* Able to follow 'Special' notes, specifications and standard work processes.
* Able to read and interpret drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), sales & job orders, &
technical documents.
* Able to work independently, in a team orientated environment.
* Able to work in a fast-paced inspection environment.
* Able to prep the product for inspection testing per procedure.
* Able to provide technical support for process auditors, QA engineering, production
engineering and leadership for all inspection lines.

* Able to maintain accurate inspection records for all inspection lines.
* Able to operate AC/DC motors.
* Able to perform HV and mechanical testing with customers, engineers and leaders.
* Able to perform four-step problem solving and review it with production engineering, QA
engineering and leadership.
Preferred:
* Four-year technical degree or equivalent.
* Five to seven years of quality assurance experience.
* American Society for Quality (ASQ) certified or ISO 9001:2015 (E) standards certified.
* High level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel (Database & Pivot Tables) and TEAMS
calendar skills.
* Knowledgeable in working with quality management systems.
* Great mechanical skills and ability to use specialized tools.
* High level mechanical & electrical technical skills.
Relevant Work Experience:
Three or more years electrical assembly inspection experience. Five or more years working in a
manufacturing environment
