Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Manager, Energy

Position Status: Full-time, Day Shift

Position Location: Corporate office, Poplar Hall Drive, Norfolk, Virginia

Standard Working Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM (ET).

Position Summary:

The Energy Manager is responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the energy management program by setting goals and strategies to save energy, conducting energy audits and providing technical assistance. The Energy Manager will implement and maintain oversight of the practices and procedures to reduce energy consumption and improve overall efficiency. Role provides learning opportunities and career advancement within Energy department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:


*Establish utility usage benchmarks and outline.
*Oversees implementation of short and long-term projects and strategies that increase energy efficiency and minimize unnecessary consumption.
*Implement energy-related cost-saving measures.
*Troubleshoot high energy usage buildings and develop new programs to reduce energy usage.

Skills, Knowledge and abilities:
*Demonstrated knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS).
*Demonstrated understanding of EPA's Energy Star Certification Program.
*Highly analytical and organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and complete multiple simultaneous projects on deadlines.
*Working knowledge of energy utility systems.
*Strong quantitative and technical skills.
*Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and Adobe Acrobat.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Level Degree
  • Building Energy Management previous experience
  • Energy Analysis - 5 years experience
  • Certified Energy Manager- strongly preferred (CEM)

Job Summary

The Energy Manager is responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the energy management program by setting goals and strategies to save energy, conducting energy audits and providing technical assistance. The Energy Manager will implement and maintain oversight of the practices and procedures to reduce energy consumption and improve overall efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Plan, organize and implement the energy management program.
*Stay current with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to energy conservation; interpret applicable building and energy codes, regulations, and standards; and ensure that the energy management program complies.
*Establish utility usage benchmarks and outline.
*Oversees implementation of short and long-term projects and strategies that increase energy efficiency and minimize unnecessary consumption.
*Implement energy-related cost-saving measures.
*Monitor and reduce energy usage.
*Conduct site visits and perform technical energy studies and audits of facilities to identify energy savings opportunities.
*Track, trend, analyze, and document energy usage and costs at each facility and develop energy savings projects and measures.
*Monitor, track, and report daily building and energy loads and develop monthly profiles.
*Monitor, track, and report energy requirements as it relates to the operation, maintenance, and repairs.
*Troubleshoot high energy usage buildings and develop new programs to reduce energy usage.
*Develop and implement an energy curtailment plan.
*Regularly survey buildings, document findings and develop programs to achieve energy savings to determine if (1) HVAC, lighting and/or plug load controls and energy devices and systems are being bypassed or not used; (2) building deficiencies increase energy usage; and (3) preventative maintenance is not being optimized or completed with a focus on energy conservation.
*Develop and implement the Energy Conservation Plan.
*Develop quarterly Energy Reports on actions to conserve energy and water, conservation recommendations and energy efficient equipment/system replacement.
*Perform energy awareness training.
*Research new and innovative technologies/methodologies within the energy industry; monitor state and national energy policy trends; and make appropriate recommendations.
*Advise the mechanical, electrical and HVAC trades on the proper operation of energy control systems, energy conservation methods/procedures, and recommended field improvement measures.
*Develop training programs for personnel to provide the special skills and techniques required to maintain mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment and control systems.
