About the Job


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

The Adult Neuropsychology Postdoctoral training program is two years of full-time formal training in clinical neuropsychology with appropriate clinical, research, and didactics components. The fellowship is designed to be a capstone training experience that allows the resident to become an independently licensed practitioner who is eligible for board certification after completing training.

Postdoctoral trainees are expected to achieve proficiency in several areas of competencies critical for success as an early career neuropsychologist and in the board certification process. Trainees will be regularly evaluated on their progress in these competency areas and provided both formative and summative feedback. The specific specialty competencies on which Residents are evaluated are:

Clinical (40%)
1. Provide assessment using interviewing skills, case conceptualization, integration with theory & empirical literature, test selection, test administration, behavioral observation.
2. Provide intervention by developing appropriate recommendations based on evaluation results,
3. Interpersonal Relations by providing verbal feedback in a compassionate, clear, and effective manner, maintaining rapport, appropriate follow up, flexibility, speaking on patient's level, sensitivity to patient's needs
4. Conduct report writing with a level of sophistication/integration of results, comprehensiveness, clarity of communication, conciseness

Research and Supervision (30%)
1. Use of Research/Empirical Literature by effectively utilizing empirical literature and integrate with clinical neuropsychological assessment results
2. Research Design/Execution at a level of theoretical & methodological sophistication, creativity, integration, follow through on projects, statistics, analytical skills, writing skills
3. Provide supervision by effectively supervise junior trainees in clinical neuropsychology theory, techniques, report writing, and case conceptualization, build and maintain professional relationship with junior trainees

Other Duties: (30%)
1. Provide initiative with independence, self-starter, problem-solving
2. Must use ethical behavior by consistently demonstrating respect for confidentiality, accountability, managing ethical situations
3. Professionalism by consistently demonstrates responsibility, timeliness, self-confidence, interactions
4. Interpersonal interactions by consistently demonstrating respect for peers, supervisors, and support staff
5. Didactic Teaching by consistently demonstrating ability to present material in coherent, logical, and engaging manner, effectively handle questions and engage audience in presentation

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

- Ph.D. or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field
- Ability to accept critical feedback, and then incorporate into ongoing treatment or research

Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion, or expected completion prior to program start date, of all graduate program requirements including internship year.
