About the Job

The Slosky lab studies the biological basis of addiction with the goal of identifying new treatments for stimulant and opioid use disorders. The lab uses a combination of biochemical, behavioral, and neuroimaging approaches to understand how neuropeptide receptors signal, and how this signaling drives motivated behavior.

Job Responsibilities:

70% - Laboratory Research
* Work closely with lab members and the principal investigator to execute experiments in cultured cells and in mouse model systems. These duties may include daily maintenance of cell lines, cell-based assays of GPCR signal transduction, handling of animals, and animal behavioral testing.
* Perform rodent survival surgeries, post-operative care, and monitoring
* Perform image- and biochemistry-based assays with tissue and cultured cells
* Maintain detailed and organized experimental records, manage data, and participate in data analysis and visualization
10% Publication and Presentation of Data
* Communicate findings regularly during group-meetings and at scientific conferences.
* Communicate findings through publications in peer-reviewed journals
* Prepare and give presentations at local and national meetings
10% Training of Lab Personnel
* Contribute to the training and mentoring of junior personnel (undergraduate and graduate students, technicians) in the lab
* Foster a safe, collegial, and inclusive workplace environment

10% - Laboratory Research Support
* Assist in the maintenance of common laboratory reagents and equipment
* Sterilize of supplies
* Create and manage changes to laboratory standard operating procedures
* Maintain laboratory compliance with institutional regulatory bodies (e.g., IACUC, IBC)
* Oversee ordering of laboratory reagents

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, cellular biology, neuroscience, or a related field
* Willingness to work with rodents in a research environment.
