Job Description

Season Dates: August 15, 2024 - June 15, 2025

Duties:

A Panther Mentor Program Advisor will facilitate and coordinate the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) throughout the school year. FCCLA is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education in schools through grade 12.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Assist chapter to utilize youth leadership models and applied learning projects which help youth to improve themselves, their school and community.
  • Provide leadership in setting up and implementing programs that help improve leadership and academic skills.
  • Familiarize and follow the guidelines and by-laws of the FCCLA organization.
  • Schedule and help lead officer and chapter meetings each month.
  • Develop an agenda with the local chapter President for meetings.
  • Recruit and retain student members.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities.
  • Responsible for financial management. This includes submitting dues to national organization, collecting and depositing fundraising money, etc.
  • Guide and assist student members in completing local, state, and national programs.
  • Help officers and members develop a plan of work (monthly projects) for the year.
  • Support local, region/area state and/or national officers. This may include attendance at camp in summer, fall and mid-winter region/area meetings/conferences, state meeting and national meeting.
  • Attend and support student members at all region/area, state, and national meetings.
  • Support and help students prepare and compete in competitive events (STAR Events and/or Skill events) at the local, region, state and/or national levels.
  • Attend and support chapter activities outside of the regular monthly meetings.
  • Promote the FCCLA organization.

Preferences: A BA/BS Degree and MN Teacher License with coaching certificate OR equivalent and previous experience working with high school age students. Previous experience as a advisor.

Qualifications: A strong background in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS). Strong work ethic and dedication to furthering the benefits of participation in co-curricular activities. Leadership skills including but not limited to organization, vision, motivation, and conflict resolution. Ability to work with students, parents, staff, and community.

Salary: Compensation in accordance with Schedule C
