Job Description

Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (CUVCPS) has commenced a search for a nationally recognized physician/scientist to serve as the Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery.

We are currently seeking a full-time Cerebrovascular Neuroendovascular Neurosurgeon to join our practice.

The candidate will be required to provide care for patients with a wide range of cerebrovascular disease. The candidate will be expected to establish an independent investigative program, focusing on neuro-endovascular research. They will be required to provide call coverage for acute stroke and other neurovascular emergencies at The Columbia University Medical Center/ New York Presbyterian Hospital.

This position is a full-time faculty appointment at Columbia University with admitting privileges at one or more of Columbia's affiliated/partner institutions. This position will offer a wide variety of opportunities for clinical care, teaching, and research. Responsibilities will include direct patient care, the supervision and teaching of house staff (residents and fellows) and medical students.


Qualifications

  • Licensed in the State of New York
  • Minimum education requirement is a Doctor of Medicine
  • Must be board-certified or board ligible
  • Candidates must be fellowship-trained in neuroendovascular/neurointerventional procedures with a background in neurosurgery.
  • The individual should have completed an ACGME neurosurgery residency and full fellowship training in Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology preferably in a CAST-Certified fellowship program. Candidates with a background in neuroradiology or neurology are welcome to apply provided they have completed an ACGME residency and appropriate fellowship training.

Preferred qualities

  • Highly regarded basic, translational, and/or clinical research background with track record of scholarly achievements, extramural funding and peer-reviewed publications.
