Job Summary: (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

Maintains and repairs natural gas pipeline instrumentation, controls and electrical equipment with emphasis on TSA Cyber Security assets. This includes RTUs, gas chromatographs, transmitters and radio communication equipment etc. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on pneumatic and electronic instrumentation and controls, as well as calibration activities for natural gas measurement. Perform routine trouble shooting activities. Use Work Management System (Maximo) to effectively accomplish required maintenance in an efficient and organized manner. Optimize pipeline preventative maintenance program to meet OEM recommendations, regulatory requirements, and corporate maintenance philosophy. Responsible for maintaining logs, manuals, records, blueprints, and operating procedures in a neat and professional manner. Provide written reports on control system conditions when required. Incorporates safe behavior into all activities and consistently complies with all established safety and health policies and procedures, helps to identify and eliminate or actively manage risks in all work activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Journey-level; specialized technical knowledge with function.
  • Perform TSA required Pipeline Cyber Security activities including:
    • Replace non-compliant cyber assets at designated TSA sites.
    • Reset and manage passwords and updates on existing cyber assets.
    • Respond to and troubleshoot communication outages promptly.
    • Perform preventive maintenance and repair of cyber assets.
    • Manage security patching requirements.
    • Complete all required TSA documentation of work performed.
  • Perform DOT required inspections and maintain documentation.
  • Perform a variety of technical service/support duties that are semi-routine in nature.
  • Routine and non-routine decisions are made with some latitude, but still subject to approval.
  • With limited guidance, prioritizes and executes responsibilities effectively for a single trade, group of related tasks or functional area.
  • Work periodically reviewed by others; work reflects solid performance of duties.
  • Errors have small and possibly incremental impact on department or facility and discovered in succeeding operations where work is verified or checked.
  • Completes tasks and resolves problems that require an ability to recognize deviation from accepted practices.
  • Resolves most questions and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Prioritizes daily activities to complete routine responsibilities with tasks/projects assigned by others.
  • May assist with orienting and training employees in moderately complex to complex areas.
  • Participate in DOT Operator Qualification (OQ) Program.
  • Participate in a DOT Drug and Alcohol Program.
  • Assist pipeline operators with DOT activities including Damage Prevention, patrols and other surveys. Provide limited vacation relief for two pipeline operators.

      Job Requirements

      • High School Diploma, degree from technical/vocational school or equivalent.
      • Journey-level; 2-5 years' experience in instrument/electrical and control system applications.
      • Preferred experience with Fisher ROC RTU, ABB Totalflow RTU, Rosemount transmitters and Freewave communication equipment.
      • Experience with control valve testing and troubleshooting.
      • Strong mechanical aptitude with an advanced understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.
      • Position will be subject to call outs and participation as an Emergency Responder for pipeline emergencies.
      • Completion of background check for TSA Pipeline Cyber Security/NERC requirements.
      • Valid state driver's license.
