Job Summary

Full-time, tenure-track Master of Social Work (MSW) faculty position in the Social Work Department that includes graduate teaching in the social work department, academic advising, and institutional service. Primary assignment is as MSW faculty with some teaching assignments in the BSW program.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include teaching assigned courses for MSW courses with some assignments in BSW, following CSWE accreditation requirements. Courses may include introductory social work courses, field seminar courses, social work practice courses, courses centered on socio-economic and justice issues, and other CSWE-accredited program content. General faculty responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate student advising and committee assignments for the assigned college. Expected of every faculty member is a strong commitment to the educational mission, the faith-based mission and values, and to growing diversity on campus.

Skills

The preferred candidate will have a record of strong teaching and will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively, think creatively, and work effectively under pressure. The candidate will demonstrate knowledge of and a commitment to justice-informed social work practice, social justice activities, research, and professional practice with individuals, families, groups, communities and organizations.

Successful candidates will be able to reflect on and/or demonstrate the relationship between Christian faith and the academic discipline including a strong emphasis on human rights, social, racial, economic, and environmental justice. Preference will be given for demonstrated competency in delivering hybrid learning pedagogy.

Experience

Strong professional experience in diverse social work settings, experience teaching in higher education strongly preferred. Demonstrated competence in generalist and advanced social work practice; familiarity with CSWE EPAS competencies; ability to teach and work with people from culturally diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving levels of access and success for underrepresented students in higher education; demonstrated ability to model social work professional values and ethics and to work effectively with colleagues; knowledge and experience in direct social work practice. Commitment to the advancement of justice-informed, anti-oppressive practice and teaching.

Education

MSW from an accredited CSWE program; an earned doctorate in Social Work or closely related field (Ph.D, DSW or Ed.D.). Candidates should possess a record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of Social Work. Social work teaching experience preferred. Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees. Eligibility to establish professional social work licensure through the Minnesota Board of Social Work (LICSW, LISW, or LGSW) preferred.

Additional Information

Compensation: Salary and rank commensurate with experience and education.
