Intero Psychedelic Therapy (Intero) is an Ellie Mental Health Specialty program dedicated to the advancement of psychedelics in the field of mental health.

Intero therapists are a group of like-minded individuals who are passionate about integrating psychedelic medicine into their clinical practice. Being a therapist at Intero is an excellent opportunity for eager and experienced therapists to have a mixed practice of individual therapy and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy utilizing ketamine which is the only legal psychedelic substance available for clinical use currently. This position is open to clinicians who have varying degrees of experience in work with ketamine and psychedelics, and we offer complete training to meet and develop each clinician's expertise.

In a typical week as Mental Health Clinician at Intero, you'll lead part of your caseload through the psychedelic assisted treatment model and maintain part of your caseload as either psychedelic informed psychotherapy or other therapy modalities that you find fulfilling.

We draw expertise from many schools of psychology, medicine, and philosophy, as well as cultural and spiritual traditions, to provide people with the best available tools for healing the mind. Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Evaluate client's mental health diagnoses, create, and implement appropriate treatment plan with accompanying documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Engage in-depth on-the-job training and consultation with clinical leadership team to ensure ethical practice and service delivery.
  • Provide Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy (currently Ketamine) following the Intero protocol, including the 4-phase process of assessment, preparation, treatment, and integration.
  • Work in collaboration/co-facilitation with medical professionals throughout the 4-phase process
  • Maintain excellent customer service for clients while collaborating with a dynamic team to further the mission of filling gaps in our community.
  • Utilize creativity in interventions to help clients achieve and exceed goals.
  • Coordinate services with case managers, families, work personnel, medical personnel, other Ellie staff, and school staff as needed.
  • Attend and participate in all clinical staff meetings and trainings.

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Candidates must be a fully licensed mental health professional (LICSW, LMFT, LPCC, LP) and have a master's degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university.
  • Required completion of approved Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy training (most often completed modules 1 and 2 from Polaris Insight Center), or approved equivalent.
  • Experience with completing DAs, treatment plans, clinical case notes; clinical experience across multiple domains of mental health work; clinical experience to assist clients in de-escalation.
  • Experience working with various mental health concerns including trauma.
  • Eclectic theoretical orientation and open to learning new psychotherapy modalities.
  • Ability to demonstrate and model stable, appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Comfort and familiarity working with a diverse client base.
  • Empathic presence; ability to develop trust quickly.
  • Openness to a wide understanding of spiritual beliefs, practices, and experiences
  • Experience in helping clients navigate non-ordinary states of consciousness.
  • Knowledge of the effects of psychedelics: Ketamine, and desire to learn about new psychedelic substances as they become available.
  • Self-awareness and engagement in self-as-therapist practices
  • Proficiency in complementary techniques, orientations & frameworks
